For Meyer&Meyer Textillogistik GmbH, a software solution was to be developed that could map and control the customers’ Europe-wide inbound logistics.
For the implementation, the shipping solution for CEP service providers, which was developed in a preliminary project, was adapted and extended by intelligent modules and interfaces to create the desired transparency and usability.
The aim was to consolidate the inbound shipments in a first step, to select a general cargo or FTL/LTL carrier depending on the transport volume, and to automatically assign the transport order to the chosen carrier.
For this purpose, the CEP software has been enhanced to meet the requirements of freight forwarding and to create the necessary documents and messages.
In addition, the goods transported via the general cargo network were to be consolidated again in hubs and transported to the factories by a weekly schedule.
This was realized by a mobile application for portable data terminals, which both forwards the flow of goods in the hubs to the shipping software and is used for loading and document creation (loading list, customs documents, etc.)
Depending on the scanning events, estimated delivery times are calculated and made available to the factories via the software.
The accounting and invoice verification module has also been extended, enabling costs to be viewed and checked down to item level.
